Sundays in my city...Foten Beach

Its time for SUNDAYS in MY CITY with Unknown Mami

Are y'all getting tired of my winter pictures of Norway yet? - Hoping for a little less cold & the chance to show you more of my adopted home...
But until we THAW... you get more winter.

On the kids last day of Christmas vacation this week... I took the kids out to the beach with camera in tow.

this is a beach about 10 min from our home & we come here often...usually in the summer... but on this day... although FREEZING...it was Breathtakingly B E A U T I F U L...

I included a photo from last spring ,so you can compare.... & YES.. those are diving boards to jump into the ocean.

Not sure what it is about this photo but it reminds me of an album cover from my youth.... just need to figure out which one it is before it makes me CRAZY

My first though while snapping this shot was "Heaven meets Earth"... had it not been so cold, (I feared my face & fingers falling off)
, I would have stayed out there all day.

Cause y'all know what a GREAT mommy I am
"S A F E T Y FIRST"
yes this are my children playing out on the ice...
Yes, this is the
ice
cracking.

This is my 5 year old laying on the ICE while we take bets on how fast FROST BITE can set in....

Oh my gosh... that looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cold!

I've never seen a diving board that goes into the ocean - very cool!

I also love your picture of where Heaven meets Earth. Heck, I like all your pics today. They're gorgeous!

Amazing photos......I would say that "Heaven Meets Earth" would be a very fitting title for that photo. I know I always say it, but I love, love, love your photos. I believe that Norway should hire you to encourage tourism.

This summer when we are all whining because we think we are going to spontaneously combust, please re-post.

Awesome photos!! Norway is so beautiful, and you capture the beauty well!!
Wow your pictures are breathtaking but what a difference winter makes.Looks damn cold there, but beautiful. Happy Sunday!

Soooo pretty!! It's cold here too darn it. The canals are frozen over and people are ice skating on them..lol I loved the comparison photos you posted. I dont know about you, but I could use more of the warmth in that photo! lol

Have a super week!
Oooo...thanks for including the spring view for me...I can't believe how much it transforms for winter. So...is that the ocean they are walking on...or is it more of a lake? And in summer...do YOU swim in that water? I cannot imagine that it is any resemblance of warm!

I love your commentary about letting your kids walk on the cracking ice. Isn't a mom's job supposed to be all about teaching our kids how to do things? I think you're right on!

The pictures are absolutely stunning! I especially love the cracking ice : ) How funny. Since I am also a contender for mother of the year, I will welcome you into the club : )

PS I think I got frostbite just looking at the pictures. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

You finish with astonishly beautiful landscapes, but it is the comparison of the first two photographs that made me sit up and take notice. What a difference between the seasons over there.

We are using your summer at the moment and shall give in back in a few months.

That is something that there are diving boards for the ocean. I never saw that before. And what a difference two seasons makes in the same scene.

Something tells me the ice is thicker than it looks, or the safe mommy would not allow her kids out there.

those are magnificent....and as it's my first time to your blog...I wasn't bored at all lol. I'm going to scout around for the rest of your photos...I loved Norway when I was there....32 years ago.

Tressa, I have to tell you how much I love your blogs. You had me simultaneously laughing out loud (and yes, I was alone) and crying (you've written how I feel) today! It's so completely healing to know that someone has been through what I'm going through now. I wish you were here in Oslo...I have yet to meet any Americans here yet, but if I could pick one to be first, you'd be it. Thank you for sharing and keep writing please!
I love that you included a shot for comparison. I can't get over the beautiful colors in the sky. Your children are gorgeous.
Good to see you've got it - I mean how to enjoy a lovely, cold and icy winter-day with fresh and crisp air. You know; there is no such as bad weather, only bad clothes! :-)

I had some quality time out photo hunting with my wife this weekend and you're welcome over to join us!

These are indeed spectacular photos. Our beaches don't get icy like that. I can't believe the difference between the warm weather and cold weather picture.
