American in Norway

Unbelievable how fast the years FLY by when you are an adult... Overall... it was a pretty good year... settled into my job... made some wonderful memories with my children.. and we were all healthy... (knock on wood). January...   We rang in the New Year with good friends,good food & good drink... And I got to party with MADCON... totally earned some cool points with my kids.. :-)  Eva started playing HANDBALL--- and proved to be an AWESOME goalie Feburary-    I turned 40 - again... & my babies threw me the best party ever... my sweet,sweet son- took all of his savings, road the bus into town & bought me the Michael Kors wallet I had been wanting...   can we all just say  awwww - ?  I did alot of traveling around Norway for work...  March-  after waiting a long time for Eva to start losing her baby teeth... they finally started coming out fast and furious.  she also...

Just wanted to share a few photos from Christmas 2012... this year was "lite" because lack of time this year... I did everything on a much smaller scale.. I was sooo laid back..(or just late) that this is the first time in 17 years together.. Bjørn asked if I was going to put a tree up.. Yes.. I was THAT late.. but the tree eventually made it up.. and the gifts made it under.. finally on the 23rd. (Eva 8 & Dane 13) We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner at my in laws, with the cousins.. We had turkey at our house on Christmas day... with a beautiful snowfall... we ran out & took advantage of it.. building snow people & of course the snowball fight. (Ya... you really don't want to know..) On the 2nd day of Christmas... - yes, they do that here... We took the kids to a PLUMBO concert... the kids had a fantastic time.. & were able to meet the band after the show.. I hope ...

Its Friday again .. and time for my favorite SKY pictures... I sure hope y'all aren't getting tired of photos from my dock... because I never get tired of taking them... When I noticed the smallest tinge of color in the clouds this morning.. I hopped in the car and raced down to the dock...one of my favorite places to take pictures... When I showed hubby this... he said.. "Don't you already have that picture?" " - Mmm like 500.. but I never get tired of shooting morning's like this" Just so y'all know.. I am a kind of LAZY photographer... this is taken in my IPHONE with no editing.. Yes... the sky & water really is this pretty here! . We finally got the tree up last night... And the kids had full control... they did an amazing job! Pictures will be posted tomorrow.. My mother has a Christmas "thing" that used to drive me BONKERS... my mother liked to have "themes" on our Christmas trees.. depending on her mood, or where she had been that year.. would determine the kind of tree we had.. Oh yes.. I still remember the JAMAICA tree we had one year.. What I didn't like about her themes was that she changed our ornaments so often.. we never really had any special.. that we LOVED.. well except our special balls.. with our names written in GLITTER... LOVED THOSE and the ornaments that she & dad had from their childhood. Sooo being the daughter of DiAnn... I too would grow up to have a THEME on my tree.. Our theme would be TRAVEL... oh.. and boats...  ugh. Had to stick with the whole Caribbean  (where hubby & I met theme) I would collect ornaments fr...

Sharing a bit more of beautiful Norwegian Sky.... I love that I have beautiful beaches and docks within walking distance from my home.. big change from the Houston suburb where I was raised.. I woke with a heavy heart this morning... I have had a heavy heart since the shootings on Friday... but I have tried to shake it & get on with life.. whilst trying to be just a wee bit kinder.. understanding.. patient.. But this morning as I rolled over and made the mistake of checking Facebook... (yes.. I am that horrible person with a smartphone on my nightstand) it just CLICKED for me... The horror of the shootings at Sandy Hook on Friday is horrible... what is also horrible is the fighting going on FACEBOOK  back and forth..back and forth... guns.. no guns.. guns.. no guns... My very wise 13 year old asked over dinner this evening.... "why are they fighting over gun control in the US? - shouldn't they be thinking about the victims of this horrible tragedy right now?" "Yes.. my darling.. they should. .- they should be thinking of the victims.. and how we can all do something to make the world just a little bit better place....

I have one of "THOSE" friends...  You know the kind, that no matter what she touches... it turns out FABULOUS..  She works full time... and has time to decorate her house with fresh flowers.. and bake Gingerbread houses with her kids... I really want to kind of hate her... especially as I look around at my dead potted plants... and the disaster of a Gingerbread house I tried to whip together last night... Ya... of course I didn't have enough GINGERBREAD so we had to finish it off with whatever I could find.. Ummm.. yes, that would be HAM... Thanks so much Helene for the Gingerbread House idea.. :-) OK.. I am kidding.. this is not my house of ham... I only wish I had gotten as far as making a disaster... I have done NOTHING... Now it is off to buy the FIRST Christmas present before my conference call in 2 hours.. UGH.. wish me luck!

During a Scandinavian winter.... you take the sun.. any chance you can get... Seriously... if the sun starts to peak out.. from under the heavy winter clouds...  I feel the urge to run outside.. regardless of what I am doing...  I am not even joking... It doesn't even have to be a full on, grab your sunglasses kind of sun ray... at this point.. beggars can not be choosers.. I was on my way on home from a meeting this afternoon.. and I saw a ray peaking out.. my first thought.. where can I stop and get as close as possible... drove right past my neighborhood to a dock.. I was soo worried I might miss said sun.. I took some pictures on the road...  through my dirty windshield - nice effect no? This is HIGH NOON here in Norway...   You can understand why we appreciate light this time of year... It was so quiet and peaceful out at the dock... & I couldn't help thinking that the heavy winter clouds are like most of our HEARTS t...
